Samvardhana Motherson International Limited Enters Exclusive Talks to Acquire Nexans autoelectric GmbH’s Global AutoElectric Wiring Harness Business!
Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (SAMIL) has announced that it has commenced exclusive negotiations, through its material subsidiary Motherson Global Investments BV, to explore the acquisition of 100% of the global automotive wiring harness business of Nexans autoelectric GmbH (AutoElectric). The proposed transaction remains subject to employee consultations and receipt of all requisite regulatory approvals.
The enterprise value for the potential acquisition has been agreed at €207 million on a cash- and debt-free basis, with the final consideration to be determined through customary closing adjustments. AutoElectric is a globally established automotive wiring harness supplier with a legacy of nearly six decades and reported revenues of €749 million in calendar year 2024. Passenger vehicle programmes accounted for around 81% of revenues, while commercial vehicles contributed 19%.
AutoElectric’s portfolio spans low-voltage and high-voltage powertrain harnesses, body harnesses, specialised harnesses, and related components, enabling it to serve a wide range of powertrain architectures including ICE, hybrid, and electric vehicles. The company operates 22 manufacturing and engineering facilities across 11 countries, supported by more than 800 engineers and a global workforce of approximately 13,000 employees.
If completed, the acquisition is expected to significantly strengthen Motherson’s global wiring harness platform across both passenger and commercial vehicle segments. The combined operations are anticipated to accelerate innovation across evolving powertrain technologies, enable the sharing of best-in-class operational practices, and support the joint development of next-generation wiring solutions while maintaining agility and cost competitiveness. The transaction is expected to be cash EPS accretive, with closure targeted by Q1 FY27, subject to statutory approvals and employee consultations.
Commenting on the development, Vivek Chaand Sehgal, Chairman of the Motherson Group, said the proposed acquisition represents an important step in Motherson’s growth journey. He noted that it would strengthen the group’s ability to support global customers with comprehensive wiring harness solutions while expanding its manufacturing footprint into new geographies. By combining Motherson’s execution strength with AutoElectric’s engineering expertise and customer relationships, he highlighted strong potential for innovation-led and sustainable growth.
