Sahasra Electronic Solutions, a Noida-based electronic system design and manufacturing (ESDM) company, has taken a significant step forward in India’s semiconductor journey by launching the export of “Made in India” Micro SD cards. Expanding its product portfolio beyond RFID and eSIM chips, the company has partnered with German electronics brand HAMA GmbH & Co. KG to supply Micro SD cards and USB thumb drives to the European market. This milestone marks not just Sahasra’s diversification but also a crucial shift in India’s growing electronics manufacturing capabilities.
The initiative is part of Sahasra’s long-term strategy to develop a globally competitive electronics ecosystem within India. Through its semiconductor and packaging division, the company aims to strengthen India’s position in the global EMS and semiconductor supply chain by producing and exporting high-quality memory devices. With operations spanning PCB fabrication, EMS services, memory solutions, enterprise IT hardware, smart LED lighting, RFID solutions, and semiconductor packaging, Sahasra already exports to over 20 countries and plans to deepen its European presence through this expansion.
Chairman and Managing Director Amrit Manwani described this as a defining moment, noting that it represents the first export of packaged memory devices from the company’s semiconductor unit in Bhiwadi. He emphasized that this milestone reflects India’s advancing capability in memory module manufacturing — a space previously dominated by overseas players. Echoing this sentiment, Priyam Agrawal, HAMA’s India Country Head, stated that HAMA’s “Make in India” vision goes beyond domestic sales to include global exports, with more India-made products expected under its brand portfolio in the near future.
Micro SD cards play a vital role as secure secondary storage devices in applications ranging from feature phones and CCTV systems to hybrid set-top boxes and industrial equipment. By adding memory exports to its manufacturing scope, Sahasra is helping to fortify India’s electronics export ecosystem — particularly in memory and packaging, areas that have historically relied on foreign sourcing.
This development signifies more than a product launch; it underscores the emergence of a new domestic supply-chain capability that spans design, manufacturing, and global distribution. As India continues to strengthen its electronics manufacturing sector, initiatives like Sahasra’s could play a pivotal role in reducing import dependence, attracting global EMS partnerships, and advancing the country’s goal of building a self-reliant, resilient semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.
