Rolls-Royce Secures Billion-Pound Delta Air Lines Deal

Rolls-Royce, based in Derby, has secured a significant order valued at over one billion pounds from Delta Air Lines, a major American carrier. The contract includes 30 Trent XWB-84 EP engines and 32 Trent 7000 engines. These engines are designated for 15 Airbus A350-900 and 16 Airbus A330neo widebody aircraft respectively.

This new order bolsters Delta Air Lines’ existing fleet, which comprises 40 Airbus A350-900 powered by Trent XWB-84 engines and 39 Airbus A330neo powered by Trent 7000 engines. Additionally, Delta maintains a fleet of 80 Boeing 717 aircraft utilizing BR715 engines. Delta has also placed orders for 20 Trent XWB-97 powered Airbus A350-1000 and expects delivery of four additional Trent XWB-84 powered A350-900.

The Trent XWB is renowned for its efficiency and performance and represents a vital component in Rolls-Royce’s engine line-up. The Trent 7000, specifically designed for the Airbus A330neo, offers increased fuel efficiency and reduced noise levels. These attributes align with Delta’s goals for an environmentally sustainable and cost-effective fleet.
