Revolutionizing Tooling: Carbitool’s Cutting Edge Automation

Carbitool, known as “The Woodworking Masters,” is an Australian company with over 60 years of experience in manufacturing carbide tools for various industries. Acquired by Sutton Tools in 2018, Carbitool now offers its services worldwide.

Michael Wilson, Carbitool’s Production Supervisor and regrind specialist, boasts over 25 years of experience in manufacturing and grinding special cutting tools.

Carbitool provides a wide range of tooling services, including metal cutting, woodworking, high-speed steel, carbide, and PCD tools. They specialize in regrinding all major brands of cutting tools and creating custom tools for unique needs.

The tool regrinding process has been revolutionized with ANCA’s 5-axis CNC machines. Carbitool recently acquired an ANCA FX7 machine with RFID automation, a first in Australia, allowing for efficient and automated operation.

This automation package enables the loading of up to 88 tools of varying specifications, running lights out throughout the day and night. Each tool grind file is paired with a coded RFID carrier for seamless operation.

Wilson emphasized the ease of operation and increased efficiency brought by the FX with RFID automation, enabling lights-out manufacturing and quicker turnaround times for customers.

Investing in the FX with automation has proven to be valuable, providing additional machine capacity and allowing Wilson to focus on other tasks while the machine operates remotely.

Carbitool’s partnership with ANCA demonstrates their commitment to innovation and efficiency, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the industry.
