Rajkumar Dubey Appointed as Chairman of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL)!

Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), one of India’s leading city gas distribution companies, has announced the appointment of Rajkumar Dubey as its new Chairman, effective May 1, 2025. Dubey takes over the position as part of the company’s regular leadership rotation, succeeding the outgoing chairman. His appointment marks a significant shift as IGL continues to expand its clean energy portfolio and strengthen its leadership in the energy sector.

Rajkumar Dubey brings more than 36 years of experience in business strategy, operational alignment, and human capital development to his new role at IGL. With a background in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Allahabad and an MBA from the International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises in Slovenia, Dubey’s expertise spans across multiple facets of the energy industry. His vast experience includes steering large-scale organizational transformations and leading initiatives that focus on people development, talent management, and workforce planning.

Before joining IGL, Dubey had a distinguished career with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., where he was instrumental in strategic planning and operational enhancements. In 2023, he moved to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), where he served as Director (HR) and also took on the additional role of Director (Marketing). His leadership at BPCL saw significant contributions in talent development and strategic organizational alignment, enhancing BPCL’s operational efficiency and workforce planning.

Dubey’s appointment as Chairman of IGL comes at a pivotal time for the company, as it focuses on expanding its footprint in the clean energy sector. His leadership is expected to drive operational excellence while reinforcing IGL’s commitment to sustainable growth and energy transition. As IGL seeks to deepen its presence in the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) segments, Dubey’s strategic insights will play a critical role in shaping the company’s future direction.

The energy sector in India is rapidly transitioning to cleaner sources of energy, and IGL, under Dubey’s leadership, is poised to make significant strides in this transition, supporting India’s broader energy goals. Industry observers are keenly watching how IGL’s leadership will evolve under Dubey’s guidance, with expectations that he will bring a strong people-focused and growth-led approach to the company.

IGL has emphasized that Dubey holds no shares in the company, has no familial or professional ties to the board, and is not under any restrictions from holding a directorial role. This aligns with the company’s commitment to maintaining a robust corporate governance framework. The leadership transition marks a continuation of IGL’s focus on operational excellence and development, with Dubey’s experience in human capital management expected to drive long-term growth and operational efficiency.

In his new role, Rajkumar Dubey is expected to steer IGL through its next phase of expansion, focusing on enhancing its operational capabilities while strengthening its position in India’s evolving clean energy landscape.
