Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially inaugurated SEMICON India 2024, signaling India’s ambitious move towards becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse. Held at the India Exposition Mart in Greater Noida, this landmark event, organized by SEMI in collaboration with Messe München India, MeitY, and the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), underscores India’s growing importance in the global semiconductor industry.

With over 250 exhibitors, including major players like SEMI, NXP, Foxconn, and Tata Electronics, SEMICON India 2024 is a platform showcasing cutting-edge innovations in smart manufacturing, supply chain solutions, and sustainability. The event will also explore advancements in advanced packaging, flexible hybrid electronics, and smart manufacturing.

PM Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a robust semiconductor ecosystem in India, which could generate around 85,000 skilled jobs and solidify the country’s position in the global semiconductor value chain.

SEMI also used the platform to launch its Workforce Development Program, aimed at addressing the global talent gap in the semiconductor sector by partnering with educational institutions to foster specialized skills and upskill the existing workforce.

Ajit Manocha, SEMI’s President, hailed India’s potential to become a global leader in semiconductors, driven by the sector’s rapid growth and need for innovation. The three-day event is poised to further cement India’s growing influence in the semiconductor landscape.
