Orion Packaging Systems introduces US-built Flex Legion turntable wrapper!
Orion Packaging Systems, a product brand of ProMach, has launched the Orion Flex Legion semi-automatic turntable stretch wrapper. Designed and manufactured entirely in the United States, the new system expands Orion’s Flex portfolio while reinforcing its focus on domestic production, supply chain stability and long-term customer value.
The Flex Legion replaces Orion’s previous imported entry-level model with a fully U.S.-built alternative. By centralizing design, engineering, sourcing and manufacturing domestically, Orion aims to deliver consistent quality, predictable lead times and improved control over total cost of ownership. The shift also reduces exposure to global supply chain disruptions and tariff-related volatility, while allowing closer oversight of components, inventory management and pricing structures.
According to Pat Pownell, Director of Sales at Orion, the Flex Legion has been developed to provide dependable, long-term performance. He noted that U.S.-based manufacturing enables faster response to customer requirements and ensures consistent build standards. Although positioned as an entry-level system within the semi-automatic category, the Flex Legion has been engineered to exceed typical expectations for machines at this level.
From a technical standpoint, the system reflects the same engineering philosophy applied across the broader Flex series. It features an Allen-Bradley HMI interface paired with straightforward manual adjustment controls for turntable speed, carriage movement and film tension. This combination allows operators to maintain ease of use while benefiting from industrial-grade control technology.
The Flex Legion is constructed with a heavy-duty structural steel base frame and an all-steel tower to enhance durability and operational stability. It is capable of supporting pallet loads up to 4,000 pounds and can be configured for operations ranging from approximately 20 loads per day to 20 loads per hour. This scalability makes it suitable for manufacturers and distribution centers seeking a reliable system that can adapt to evolving throughput requirements.
Engineering commonality across the Flex product line is another key advantage. The Flex Legion shares architecture and core components with other Flex models, improving reliability and simplifying maintenance. Standardization reduces the variety of spare parts customers need to stock, helping streamline service operations and lower ongoing maintenance costs.
The machine is equipped with a powered InstaThread carriage capable of delivering uniform 200 percent film pre-stretch. This technology ensures consistent load containment while reducing film consumption compared to friction-based or core-brake systems typically found in entry-level equipment. By optimizing film usage, the Flex Legion helps lower packaging material costs while maintaining load security during storage and transit.
With the introduction of the Flex Legion, Orion Packaging Systems strengthens its commitment to American manufacturing and provides customers with a durable, cost-effective and scalable semi-automatic pallet wrapping solution built for long-term operational reliability.
