SME Focus is the programme showcasing our brilliant SMEs. For manufacturers, by manufacturers. The weekly show…
NSK America Corp. is showcasing its Nakanishi high-speed rotary hand tool systems, ultrasonic systems, and ultraprecision spindles at EASTEC 2025, offering manufacturers innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency of their existing equipment. These systems are designed to significantly improve both CNC operations and the final stages of polishing, providing greater flexibility and precision for various machining processes.
At the heart of NSK America’s showcase are the Nakanishi HES high-speed electric spindles, which allow manufacturers to use their existing CNC milling machines and machining centers for a wider range of operations. These spindles enable high-speed machining, small-diameter drilling, and milling with extremely fine surface finishes, making them a valuable addition to traditional machinery.
The HES spindles are available in two versions, with 50,000 rpm and 80,000 rpm maximum speeds. Both versions are designed with less than 1 micron TIR (Total Indicator Runout), providing ultrahigh-speed performance, extremely low vibration, and precision that is ideal for high-quality surface finishes.
The HES spindles are easy to integrate into existing systems. Operators simply need to pause the program to load the spindle into the machine and lock the main spindle in place. This allows for the use of small-diameter ball end mills, which can run multiple cleanup passes to achieve exceptional surface finishes directly off the machining center, eliminating the need for additional polishing time. This streamlined process not only saves time but also increases production efficiency.
For lights-out manufacturing, the iSpeed5, a tool-changeable version of the HES system, allows for continuous operation without manual intervention, further enhancing productivity during unattended shifts.
The Nakanishi high-speed spindle systems not only improve the quality of the finished product but also extend the life of the machine’s main spindle. By reducing the need for excessive maintenance cycles and maximizing the use of small-diameter tools, these systems contribute to cost savings and operational efficiency.
In addition to the HES spindles, NSK America is also showcasing the Nakanishi Emax EVOlution microgrinder, a high-speed modular rotary hand tool system. The Emax EVOlution offers great flexibility with interchangeable attachments that can quickly switch from rotary tools to reciprocating tools or 90-degree angle heads. This modularity ensures that operators can adapt the tool to the specific needs of each phase of the application.
The ergonomic design of the Emax EVOlution makes it lightweight with low vibration, enhancing comfort and control during extended use. This system is perfect for applications that require fine detailing, such as polishing and precision grinding.
NSK America’s high-speed rotary hand tool systems, ultraprecision spindles, and ultrasonic systems are designed to make manufacturing processes more efficient and cost-effective. By enabling existing equipment to handle more complex tasks, these innovations help manufacturers achieve better surface finishes, increased productivity, and reduced downtime. The Nakanishi HES spindles and Emax EVOlution microgrinders offer practical solutions for companies looking to optimize their CNC machining processes and improve final polishing operations, making them ideal for industries requiring high precision and flexible, reliable systems.
