Coventry, UK – NP Aerospace, a global leader in vehicle integration and armour manufacturing, has officially opened a new 5.73-acre facility in Coventry, marking a significant investment in both UK job growth and global defence needs. The opening ceremony, held earlier this month, was attended by Mary Creagh, Member of Parliament for Coventry East, along with NP Aerospace’s leadership team and workforce.
The new 80,000ft² facility, which includes both indoor and outdoor spaces, will bolster NP Aerospace’s vehicle integration, armour production, and engineering capabilities. The site is strategically designed to accommodate vehicle assembly, fabrication, customer support, engineering development, and sustainable energy production, among other functions. Additionally, the location is conveniently situated near NP Aerospace’s existing armour production site in Foleshill, a historically significant area where the company was founded nearly 100 years ago as part of the Courtaulds Group.
Investment in UK Defence and Job Creation
The new facility reflects NP Aerospace’s commitment to enhancing the UK’s defence capabilities, supporting both domestic and export markets. The site will create new job opportunities, particularly in the engineering, production, and defence sectors, helping to further strengthen the UK supply chain.
Mary Creagh, MP for Coventry East, expressed her enthusiasm at the opening, stating: “It is a great pleasure to open NP Aerospace’s latest UK defence facility here in the heart of Coventry. By opening this new site, NP Aerospace is expanding its export capabilities and strengthening the UK supply chain. The company already has a strong reputation in this city, in the industry, and internationally. In seeing this new facility for myself, I understand why.”
Enhancing Defence Manufacturing in the UK
James Kempston, CEO of NP Aerospace, highlighted the importance of the new facility, saying: “This investment represents a major step forward for NP Aerospace, strengthening the foundations for our continued growth. As a key defence employer in the West Midlands, we remain committed to developing our people, advancing skills and know-how, and expanding our engineering capabilities — delivering lasting benefits to both the region and the wider UK economy.”
He added: “For our international customers, this new facility will serve as a central hub to support the continued delivery of our vehicle and armour export programmes, following the acquisition and contract novation activities completed in 2024. For the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), it enhances our ability to deliver on major programmes, including protected mobility and conventional vehicle fleet contracts such as PMETS and CVSSP, while also reinforcing vital onshore defence capabilities well into the future.”
With this new facility, NP Aerospace is well-positioned to meet the increasing demand for defence systems, including military vehicles and armour, while also strengthening the UK’s capabilities to support its defence exports. The investment will play a crucial role in securing future growth for the company and reinforcing its reputation as a trusted partner for the UK MoD and global defence forces.
