Monday 27 April 2026, 2:26:05 PM

Nissan has confirmed that its new all-electric Juke will be manufactured in Britain at the Sunderland plant, providing a significant uplift to the UK’s automotive sector. This announcement was made during Nissan’s Vision Event at its global headquarters in Japan, where the third-generation Juke was unveiled.

Since its original launch in 2010, the Juke has been a popular choice, with over 1.5 million units sold across Europe over 16 years. The forthcoming model is based on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform and shares much of its technology with the smaller Leaf EV. Both models will be constructed at the Sunderland location.

Build trials for the new Juke will commence shortly, with full-scale production slated for early 2027. This strategic move underscores Sunderland’s role as a pivotal hub in Nissan’s electrified production network within Europe.

The decision to continue production in Sunderland not only affirms Nissan’s commitment to the UK, but also strengthens the plant’s position as a central player in the company’s European operations. As industries increasingly pivot towards sustainable solutions, this move aligns with broader global trends in automotive manufacturing.

The Sunderland factory’s continued operation supports local employment and contributes to the region’s economic stability. Nissan’s investment in Sunderland highlights the UK plant’s importance in meeting the growing demand for electric vehicles across Europe.
