
Nidec Corporation has appointed Michael Briggs as Chairman of the Motion & Energy Business Unit and CEO of the Appliance & Automotive Division, effective April 1, 2026. The move places Briggs in charge of a significant portion of Nidec’s global operations at a crucial stage in the company’s transformation and growth journey.
In this dual leadership role, Briggs will oversee a diverse international portfolio, focusing on strengthening customer relationships, improving operational performance and driving the next phase of strategic expansion. His appointment reflects Nidec’s broader efforts to enhance governance, reinforce accountability and build a more agile and resilient global organization.
Briggs brings extensive experience within Nidec, having most recently served as President of the Motion & Energy business. In that role, he contributed to aligning global operations and advancing performance across key segments. Prior to this, he held the position of Chief Financial Officer for Nidec’s Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motor business, where he played a key role in strengthening financial discipline and supporting growth initiatives.
He also served as President of Nidec Control Techniques, where he successfully led the integration of complex global operations. His ability to manage large-scale business transformations and improve operational alignment has been instrumental in enhancing the company’s responsiveness to changing market demands.
According to Mitsuya Kishida, Briggs’ combination of commercial insight and operational expertise will be critical as Nidec continues to evolve its global management structure. The company is focused on strengthening its culture, improving execution and delivering consistent long-term performance across its business units.
