Marking a major milestone in its 23-year journey in India, Musashi India, the subsidiary of Japan-based Musashi Seimitsu Industries, has launched the Musashi Technology Excellence Centre (MTEC) in Bengaluru. Located within the Atria University Campus, this state-of-the-art facility is set to become a cornerstone of Musashi’s efforts to accelerate R&D in energy storage systems and electric mobility solutions specifically tailored to India’s unique operating conditions.
With an initial investment of ₹100 million, MTEC reflects the company’s long-term commitment to localized innovation and its alignment with India’s growing role in the global e-mobility ecosystem. The new centre will focus on rapid prototyping, testing, and validation of advanced technologies developed by Musashi’s global teams, in collaboration with international partners and suppliers. The centre also has plans to expand both its infrastructure and talent base in the coming years.
Speaking at the inauguration on July 29, Naoya Nishimura, CEO of Musashi India and Africa Region, emphasized the company’s growth trajectory—from serving a single OEM in 2002 to becoming a trusted supplier to major automotive manufacturers across India. He noted that MTEC will significantly boost the company’s local R&D capabilities, enabling closer alignment with evolving customer needs and enhancing product localization.
The centre will place a strong focus on advanced energy storage technologies, including hybrid supercapacitors, which are critical to powering the next generation of electric vehicles. It will also serve as a hub for attracting top-tier talent in electrochemistry, material science, and data analytics, further strengthening Musashi’s innovation pipeline in the region.
Masaru Maeda, Chief E-Mobility Officer at Musashi Seimitsu Industries, highlighted the strategic importance of this launch in the group’s global roadmap. He reiterated India’s emerging leadership in the electric mobility sector and the crucial role MTEC will play in fulfilling both domestic and international demand.
This initiative also complements India’s Net Zero 2030 goals, reinforcing Musashi’s commitment to sustainability through cutting-edge R&D and localized manufacturing. By combining Musashi India’s automotive production expertise with Musashi Energy Solutions’ advancements in energy systems, the company aims to deliver transformative solutions for the future of mobility—designed in India, for India and beyond.
