Motherson and Adani Ports to Build Advanced RoRo Terminal at Dighi Port!
By Ashutosh Arora
Motherson, through its joint venture Samvardhana Motherson Hamakyorex Engineered Logistics Limited (SAMRX), has partnered with Dighi Port Limited (DPL)—a subsidiary of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ)—to develop a state-of-the-art roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) terminal at Dighi Port in Maharashtra. Positioned strategically on India’s western coastline with strong multimodal access, the new facility will support seamless export and import operations for major automotive manufacturers, strengthening India’s position in global vehicle logistics.
The project will be developed in phases, with SAMRX investing to create an initial handling capacity of approximately 200,000 vehicles per year, along with future scalability. Designed as an end-to-end automotive logistics ecosystem, the terminal will integrate full cargo traceability and multiple value-added services such as yard management, AI-enabled pre-delivery inspection, EV charging infrastructure, customs facilitation, and stevedoring. This holistic model aims to streamline the entire vehicle movement cycle—from factory dispatch to global distribution.
Motherson, a global design, engineering, and manufacturing conglomerate, operates across 44 countries with more than 425 facilities. Serving customers in passenger vehicles, commercial fleets, rail, off-highway, and two- and three-wheeler sectors, the company’s offerings include electrical distribution systems, vehicle modules, lighting, precision machining, and advanced assemblies.
