ModuleWorks has announced the release of ModuleWorks 2025.12, introducing a range of automated capabilities designed to improve machining efficiency, enhance process safety and deliver higher part quality for manufacturers.

The latest version of the ModuleWorks SDK addresses common challenges faced in complex mould and die machining, where deep pockets and sharp internal corners can make machining difficult due to limited accessibility and tooling constraints. Traditional 3 axis strategies often rely on long, slender tools, increasing costs, risk of tool deflection and the likelihood of residual material that requires manual finishing.

To address this, ModuleWorks 2025.12 introduces a new Corner Finishing toolpath. The strategy automatically detects uncut stock, generates stable tool centre lines and merges optimised paths to minimise repositioning. The system also adapts machining strategies for both steep and shallow surfaces, helping ensure precise material removal, improved surface finish and reduced manual polishing.

The release also expands the capabilities of FeedControl, which dynamically adjusts toolpaths based on cutting forces and machine performance. This allows engineers to maintain stable cutting conditions, extend tool life and improve cycle times.

A new feature within the FeedControl interface enables users to define custom process constraints, including parameters such as side load, chip load and machine power or torque limits. These controls allow programmers to fine tune toolpaths to maximise machining efficiency while maintaining safe operating conditions.

ModuleWorks 2025.12 also introduces a significant improvement for SWARF machining. The update enhances the system’s ability to detect guide curves on surfaces, including those with rounded boundaries. This improvement removes previous limitations and ensures consistent curve selection regardless of edge geometry, simplifying programming workflows and enabling reliable results when machining complex geometries.

The release represents another step forward in helping manufacturers automate complex programming tasks while improving machining stability and productivity.
