Mastercam Partners with CamInstructor to Strengthen CNC Education and Bridge Skills Gap!
Mastercam has announced a strategic partnership with CamInstructor to deliver structured, classroom-ready curricula alongside its Educational Suite. The collaboration aims to address one of the most pressing challenges in manufacturing today—the growing shortage of skilled CNC programmers and machinists.
Under this partnership, educational institutions purchasing the Mastercam Educational Suite, as well as existing users on Mastercam Connect, will now receive CamInstructor 101 at no additional cost. This bundled solution provides a comprehensive teaching framework that includes step-by-step lesson plans, project-based instruction, presentations, part files, assessments, and complete instructor resources. The goal is to enable educators to begin teaching immediately without the need to create or source their own curriculum.
The initiative directly tackles a long-standing issue in technical education. While many institutions have access to industry-standard CAM software, instructors often lack structured teaching materials, leading to inconsistent instruction and slower learning outcomes. By integrating a ready-to-use curriculum with professional-grade software, Mastercam and CamInstructor are simplifying the teaching process and improving the quality of CNC education.
According to Clint Smith, Senior Education Specialist at Mastercam, educators have consistently expressed the need for a complete teaching solution rather than just software. With the inclusion of CamInstructor 101, instructors can focus on delivering effective training rather than spending time developing course content from scratch.
The curriculum covers both CNC milling and turning applications, allowing students to gain hands-on experience by creating real-world components within the Mastercam environment. This practical, project-based approach ensures that learners develop job-ready skills that can be directly applied in manufacturing roles across industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical, and energy.
Initially, the bundled offering is available to U.S.-based educational institutions, with plans for broader global rollout in the future. Existing users who renew their Mastercam Connect subscriptions will also gain access to the curriculum, further expanding its reach within the education ecosystem.
Workforce development remains a core focus for Mastercam, which has been actively supporting manufacturing education for over four decades. With more than 170,000 educational licenses in use worldwide, the company plays a critical role in preparing students for careers in advanced manufacturing. This is particularly important as the U.S. manufacturing sector faces a significant talent shortage, with millions of roles projected to remain unfilled in the coming years.
Beyond this partnership, Mastercam continues to support the next generation of manufacturers through initiatives such as its free Learning Edition, Mastercam University training platform, and collaborations with organizations like SkillsUSA and WorldSkills.
Overall, the partnership with CamInstructor represents a meaningful step toward closing the manufacturing skills gap. By equipping educators with both the tools and the curriculum they need, Mastercam is helping to ensure that students graduate with the practical knowledge and confidence required to succeed in modern CNC programming and machining careers.
