Maruti Suzuki India Limited has taken a major step toward accelerating the adoption of electric mobility by signing collaboration agreements with 13 leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and charging aggregators. The announcement was made in the presence of Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, and Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, alongside senior leaders from partner organizations. This strategic move marks the beginning of a unified, nationwide EV charging ecosystem designed to offer seamless access, convenience and reliability for future Maruti Suzuki EV customers.
Mr. Takeuchi emphasized that as Maruti Suzuki enters the electric vehicle segment, the company’s priority is to provide a customer experience that matches the scale and trust associated with the brand. He highlighted Maruti Suzuki’s existing network of 2,000+ exclusive charging points across 1,100+ cities, and the broader collaboration that gives customers access to thousands more public chargers across the country. As part of Suzuki’s global EV roadmap, Maruti Suzuki is targeting the deployment of over 1 lakh charging points by 2030, working closely with dealers and partnered CPOs to create one of India’s most expansive charging networks.
Further illustrating the company’s preparedness for the EV transition, Partho Banerjee announced that Maruti Suzuki, along with its partner network, will ensure the availability of EV charging points every 5–10 kilometres in key locations across India’s 100 largest cities. For long-distance travel, fast-charging stations will be deployed along major national highways, enabling seamless intercity journeys. To support the service side of EV ownership, Maruti Suzuki has trained a 1.5 lakh-strong EV-ready workforce and operationalized 1,500+ EV-capable service workshops across more than 1,100 cities, reinforcing customer confidence in aftersales readiness.
To demonstrate the strength and reliability of this nationwide charging infrastructure, Maruti Suzuki is launching a countrywide initiative called the “e drive.” Four units of the upcoming eVITARA Born EV will simultaneously embark on long-distance routes toward India’s northern, southern, eastern and western boundaries—Srinagar, Kanyakumari, Dibrugarh and Bhuj, respectively. This real-world endurance run will showcase the operational practicality of Maruti Suzuki’s “e for me” ecosystem, while also highlighting the brand’s capability to support long-range electric travel.
Customers will be able to access and navigate this vast charging ecosystem through the “e for me” mobile app, available on both Apple App Store® and Google Play™ Store. The app offers a user-friendly interface for locating public chargers, managing home-charger installations and making payments through UPI or Maruti Suzuki Money powered by Razorpay, ensuring a smooth and integrated charging experience.
At the centre of this EV revolution is the Made-in-India eVITARA Born EV, engineered to global standards and tested across more than 1 crore kilometres in extreme environmental conditions ranging from -30°C to +60°C. Delivering a certified range of 543 km*, the SUV is poised to redefine electric mobility for Indian consumers. With a robust charging network, a comprehensive aftersales framework and a customer-centric digital platform, Maruti Suzuki is setting the stage for widespread EV adoption and shaping the future of sustainable transportation in India.
