Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt Ltd (MASPL) has entered into a significant multi-year contract with Aernnova Aerospace, SAU, valued at approximately $300 million. The agreement involves MASPL manufacturing metal sub-assemblies and components for high-profile aircraft models, including those produced by Airbus and Embraer. Notably, the deal includes the C390 Millennium, a military transport aircraft developed by Embraer. These components will be supplied to Aernnova’s manufacturing facilities in Spain, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Brazil, further enhancing India’s growing role in the global aerospace supply chain.
The partnership between Mahindra Aerostructures and Aernnova, which has been in place since 2013, is now entering a new phase of growth. This new contract represents a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the two companies, as it strengthens the aerospace sector in India and supports the country’s “Make in India” initiative. Under this deal, MASPL will leverage its extensive manufacturing capabilities and expertise in aerospace technologies to deliver components that meet the highest international standards for aircraft production.
Ricardo Chocarro, CEO of Aernnova, expressed his confidence in Mahindra Aerostructures’ capabilities, stating, “This partnership with Mahindra will enable Aernnova to reinforce its supply base to secure production ramp-ups in our factories for all our programs, fulfilling our mission to deliver to our customers. We have great confidence in MASPL’s expertise and high-end technology capabilities to industrialize the different packages with the support of our technical experts in the different areas of work.” This reflects Aernnova’s strong belief in Mahindra’s technical prowess and its ability to meet the demands of large-scale aerospace manufacturing.
The relationship between MASPL and Aernnova has been a fruitful one over the past decade, with significant investments made in scaling up operations. Mahindra Aerostructures has played a pivotal role in supporting Aernnova’s growth in India, particularly in the development of its aerospace capabilities. Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & MD of Mahindra Group, added, “We are delighted with the confidence Aernnova has reposed in us and are grateful for their support. As we scale up our operations and make significant investments in our Aerospace business, we look forward to enhancing this partnership and scaling new heights.”
The collaboration reached a critical point in 2020, when Aernnova acquired Hamble Aerostructures, a key customer of MASPL. This acquisition deepened the collaboration between the two companies and highlighted the strategic importance of their partnership in the aerospace industry. Arvind Mehra, MD & CEO of Mahindra Aerostructures, remarked, “The Aernnova partnership has been of great importance to us since the inception of our business. This new contract builds on our UK work and expands ‘Make in India’ opportunities.”
This partnership aligns with the Indian government’s vision of making the country a global manufacturing hub for aerospace components. By expanding its role in supplying high-tech aerospace parts to leading global aircraft manufacturers, MASPL is helping strengthen India’s position in the global aerospace supply chain. The $300 million contract not only underscores the growing significance of India in the aerospace sector but also highlights the growing technical capabilities of Indian manufacturers in delivering world-class components for the global market.
Through this collaboration, both Mahindra Aerostructures and Aernnova are poised to contribute significantly to the future of aerospace manufacturing, bringing advanced technologies and innovation to the forefront of the global industry.
