Legrand India Inaugurates Largest Manufacturing Facility in Nashik, Strengthening Its Global Export and Data Centre Focus!
Legrand India has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Nashik, Maharashtra, marking a significant milestone in the company’s India growth journey. Spread across more than 30,000 square metres, the new plant is Legrand’s largest manufacturing facility in India and among the largest globally, underscoring the strategic importance of India as both a manufacturing base and an export hub for the group.
The Nashik facility has been designed to serve domestic as well as international markets and has already commenced exports of select products. It will manufacture a wide range of solutions including busbar trunking systems, distribution boards, cable trays, and industrial plugs, with a strong focus on applications for data centres. As demand for digital infrastructure accelerates across India and global markets, Legrand is positioning this facility to support high-growth segments that require reliable, scalable, and standards-compliant power distribution solutions.
A key feature of the new plant is its emphasis on sustainability and responsible manufacturing. The facility has been developed in line with green building principles and is supported by IGBC certification. It incorporates a 1 MW solar power installation to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources and follows a zero liquid discharge policy to minimise environmental impact. These initiatives align with Legrand’s broader global sustainability commitments and reflect the company’s intent to integrate environmental considerations into large-scale industrial expansion.
The Nashik plant is also equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies and robust quality control systems aimed at ensuring consistent, high-quality output. Automation, process optimisation, and stringent testing protocols are expected to play a central role in meeting both domestic customer expectations and international compliance requirements. By combining scale with precision manufacturing, Legrand aims to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and enhance its ability to serve complex infrastructure and industrial projects.
Commenting on the inauguration, Tony Berland, CEO and Managing Director of Group Legrand India, described the facility as an important strategic milestone for the company. He noted that the Nashik project reflects Legrand’s long-term commitment to building manufacturing capabilities in India and highlighted the collaborative effort of teams and partners involved in bringing the facility online. According to him, the plant is expected to create long-term value for customers, employees, and stakeholders across India and global markets.
The new facility also strengthens Legrand’s broader presence in India, where the company has been active for over two decades, particularly in power protection and electrical infrastructure solutions. With a diverse portfolio that includes well-known brands such as IndoAsian and Numeric, Legrand has built a strong position across residential, commercial, and industrial segments. The company currently operates seven manufacturing plants in India and employs more than 5,000 people nationwide.
Beyond manufacturing and exports, Legrand continues to invest in community development and sustainability initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Nashik facility reflects this philosophy by combining industrial scale with environmental responsibility and long-term capability building.
With this inauguration, Legrand India reinforces its ambition to serve as a key global manufacturing and export base for the group, while supporting India’s growing role in data centres, infrastructure development, and advanced electrical systems.
