Kuka Robotics has introduced the KMP 3000P, a powerful autonomous mobile robot (AMR) engineered to handle the demanding requirements of modern manufacturing and intralogistics. Designed as a heavyweight transport platform, the KMP 3000P significantly boosts productivity by moving loads of up to three tons with ease, making it an ideal solution for environments where heavy material handling and continuous workflow efficiency are essential.
A defining feature of the KMP 3000P is its omnidirectional drive system, which allows the AMR to move forward, backward, sideways and even diagonally without restriction. This maneuverability is especially advantageous in facilities with narrow aisles, busy intersections or constrained floor layouts. By navigating in any direction, the robot optimizes material flow and reduces the need for excessive space or manual repositioning.
Safety and autonomous decision-making are at the core of the KMP 3000P’s design. The platform is equipped with four integrated 3D cameras and two high-precision laser scanners that deliver a full 360-degree field of vision. This comprehensive perception system enables the AMR to detect obstacles, adjust its path instantly and maintain smooth, uninterrupted operation. As a result, manufacturers can eliminate the need for fixed guide paths, magnets or in-floor tracks—lowering infrastructure costs and increasing layout flexibility.
To support round-the-clock workflows, the KMP 3000P incorporates an advanced inductive charging system. The AMR can charge wirelessly either at a central station or through inductive charging pads placed at strategic points throughout the facility. This ensures continuous availability, minimizes downtime and allows the robot to top up its battery autonomously during natural pauses in operation.
Managing multiple KMP 3000P units is made seamless through the Kuka.AMR Fleet software, which provides centralized fleet coordination. The software handles tasks such as traffic management, route optimization, mission allocation and real-time monitoring, helping factories maintain efficient throughput even when multiple robots operate simultaneously. This intelligent orchestration ensures that every AMR in the system performs at its highest capacity without collisions or workflow bottlenecks.
Beyond the hardware and software, Kuka supports its AMR solutions with comprehensive service offerings that include system engineering, training, simulation tools, spare parts availability and robot refurbishment. These services help companies integrate the KMP 3000P smoothly into their operations while ensuring long-term performance and reliability.
With its combination of heavy-load capability, flexible mobility, advanced safety systems and intelligent fleet management, the KMP 3000P is well-positioned to transform material handling in manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. It offers businesses a scalable and efficient way to automate internal transport while maintaining the adaptability required in fast-evolving production environments.
