Kennametal Inc., a global leader in tooling solutions and metal-cutting technologies, is pleased to announce the promotion of David Bersaglini to the position of Vice President of Kennametal Inc. and President of the Metal Cutting segment. Bersaglini, who brings nearly 25 years of extensive experience in leadership development, training facilitation, and manufacturing market forecasting, joins Kennametal from Copeland, a spin-off of Emerson, where he served as Vice President and General Manager of the Global Refrigeration segment.
In his new role, Bersaglini will oversee all aspects of Kennametal’s Metal Cutting segment, including advancing strategic initiatives, driving operational excellence, and delivering profitable growth. His appointment is part of Kennametal’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its leadership team and enhance its position in the competitive metal-cutting industry.
Sanjay Chowbey, President and CEO of Kennametal, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, stating, “Dave brings a strong track record of success to Kennametal, with extensive experience leading businesses in the global industrial space and a proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives. David Bersaglini succeeds Sanjay Chowbey as President of the Metal Cutting segment. Throughout his career, Bersaglini has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of the metal-cutting industry. At Copeland, he was responsible for managing a $1 billion Global Refrigeration segment, developing and implementing strategies to deliver long-term profitable growth across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. His role encompassed overseeing manufacturing operations, global product strategy, engineering development, sales, and marketing. Prior to his tenure at Copeland, Bersaglini held significant positions at Emerson, where he advanced through roles in product management, marketing, sales, strategic planning, and general management, ultimately serving as Vice President of Corporate Planning.
Bersaglini’s hands-on experience as a CNC machinist, manufacturing engineer, and application engineer has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of both the technical and operational facets of the industry. This blend of technical expertise and strategic leadership positions him to effectively drive Kennametal’s Metal Cutting segment towards achieving its ambitious growth objectives.
Bersaglini holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University. His educational background, combined with his extensive professional experience, equips him with the skills necessary to lead Kennametal’s Metal Cutting segment in a rapidly evolving market.
