Jaya Hind Industries Commences Expansion of Chennai Manufacturing Facility!
Jaya Hind Industries (JHI), a globally recognised supplier of precision aluminium die-cast components, has marked the commencement of expansion work at its Chennai manufacturing facility with a ground-breaking ceremony. The development highlights the company’s continued focus on capacity expansion, advanced manufacturing, and long-term growth in India’s automotive and mobility ecosystem.
The expanded facility is coming up at Kottaiyur Village in Thiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, with an estimated investment of ₹200 crore. The project will significantly strengthen JHI’s high-pressure die-casting capabilities, with the installation of machines ranging from 1,400 to 4,400 tonnes. This expanded capacity will support the production of a wide portfolio of components, including internal combustion engine parts, electric vehicle components, and large structural aluminium castings.
As part of the expansion plan, JHI will add a new manufacturing shed of nearly 13,000 square metres. Once operational, the Chennai plant will evolve into a fully integrated manufacturing hub, combining advanced die-casting equipment with expanded machining lines to handle complex, high-volume production requirements.
Aligned with JHI’s strategy of deepening vertical integration, the upgraded facility will incorporate multiple critical in-house processes such as machining, powder coating, heat treatment, honing, and impregnation. Bringing these capabilities under one roof is expected to enhance quality control, improve operational efficiency, and support the growing complexity of aluminium components demanded by global OEMs.
The expansion is being driven by a strong inflow of new business, resulting in full utilisation of existing capacity. The upgraded Chennai plant will serve a diversified customer base, including export customers such as Cummins and Generac in the United States, domestic OEMs like TVS Motor Company in the super-premium two-wheeler segment, and emerging manufacturers of electric vehicle modules. Upon full commissioning, the facility is expected to reach an installed capacity of around 20,000 tonnes per annum.
Commenting on the development, Prasan Firodia, Managing Director of Jaya Hind Industries, said the expansion represents a significant milestone in the company’s growth journey. He noted that the investment not only increases die-casting capacity but also strengthens vertical integration through advanced machinery and in-house processing. According to him, the project reinforces JHI’s commitment to delivering high-quality, complex aluminium solutions with greater speed, consistency, and control, while contributing to India’s Make in India vision for globally competitive manufacturing.
