Iron Bull Fluid Reclaim Hoppers Enable Efficient Separation and Recovery of Waste Liquids in Machining Operations!

Wednesday 7 January 2026, 12:21:11 PM

Iron Bull Manufacturing has introduced a new range of fluid reclaim hoppers designed to help machine shops and metalworking facilities efficiently separate cutting fluids, oils, coolants, and water from waste streams. The solution addresses a common challenge in machining environments, where metal chips and scrap are often mixed with valuable or regulated fluids that need to be recovered, reused, or safely disposed of.

The fluid reclaim hoppers are engineered to simplify liquid separation at the point of collection. Each unit features an integrated trough system that directs fluids toward a dedicated drain, allowing liquids to be removed quickly and cleanly from collected waste. This design enables shops to reclaim usable cutting fluids and coolants, reduce disposal costs, and improve housekeeping by preventing excess fluid accumulation in scrap containers.

To ensure effective separation, the hoppers incorporate a heavy-duty mesh screen that prevents metal shavings, chips, and small debris from entering the liquid stream. This helps maintain fluid quality during reclamation while minimizing the risk of clogging or contamination. Fluid removal is handled through a robust 3/4-inch brass valve that is resistant to oils, coolants, cutting fluids, and similar industrial liquids, supporting long-term durability in demanding shop-floor conditions. High-quality seals are used throughout the system to promote safe, leak-free operation.

Iron Bull’s fluid reclaim hoppers are designed for versatility across a wide range of shop sizes and applications. They are available in capacities ranging from one-quarter yard to seven yards, with load ratings up to 7,000 pounds. This makes them suitable for small job shops as well as large-scale manufacturing facilities that generate high volumes of chips and fluid-laden waste. Typical applications include separating coolants, cutting oils, and water from machining chips, but the hoppers can also be used anywhere fluids must be isolated from scrap materials.

From a structural standpoint, the hoppers are built with Iron Bull’s heavy-duty construction standards. Each unit uses a self-dumping, pinless rocker design to simplify handling and improve reliability during dumping operations. A wraparound welded lip on the back corners enhances overall structural integrity, while reinforced angles along the top edge and additional gussets provide added strength and resistance to deformation under heavy loads.

The base of each hopper features cross-tie channel construction with an open-face-down design, which adds rigidity while helping prevent debris buildup in structural members. Hopper sides extend past the bottom to further increase strength and durability, ensuring the units can withstand repeated use in harsh industrial environments.

By enabling efficient fluid separation at the source, Iron Bull’s fluid reclaim hoppers support better waste management practices, improved environmental compliance, and more sustainable use of metalworking fluids. For manufacturers looking to reduce waste, recover valuable resources, and maintain a cleaner, safer shop floor, these hoppers offer a practical and durable solution tailored to real-world machining operations.
