InssTek, headquartered in Daejeon, South Korea, a leader in Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Additive Manufacturing technology, has successfully installed its advanced MX-Lab system at the Centre for Additive Manufacture – Metal (CAM2) at Chalmers University of Technology, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. The installation of the MX-Lab machine marks a significant step in advancing research in metal additive manufacturing and supporting cutting-edge applications at one of Europe’s leading technical institutions.
The MX-Lab is equipped with a 500 W laser, designed specifically for research purposes. Its compact footprint and a build volume of 150 x 150 x 150 mm make it an ideal solution for detailed experimental work. The machine’s unique design allows researchers to explore a wide variety of compositions and properties, which is vital for advancing knowledge in the additive manufacturing field.
One of the standout features of the MX-Lab is its Hexa Powder Feeder system, which enables precise control over up to six different material ratios during experiments. This high level of control allows researchers to conduct experiments with great accuracy, even in micro-amounts of powder. This advanced capability ensures that the MX-Lab is well-suited for precise and high-quality research applications, making it an invaluable tool for academics working in the metal additive manufacturing domain.
Along with the installation, InssTek also provided an introduction and training on the MX-Lab to the staff at Chalmers University. This training ensures that researchers are well-equipped to fully utilize the machine’s capabilities and further develop their work in additive manufacturing, particularly in the metal sector.
