IIHMR Delhi Partners with Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone to Establish a Satellite Centre for Advancing Healthcare Management Education!
The International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) Delhi has entered into a strategic partnership with the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) to strengthen education, skill development, and applied research for India’s rapidly growing medical devices and MedTech sector. Formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding, the collaboration is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the evolving operational needs of the medical technology industry.
As part of the agreement, IIHMR Delhi will set up a satellite centre at the AMTZ campus in Visakhapatnam. The centre will function as a dedicated hub for executive education, industry-focused skill development programmes, and joint academic–industry initiatives. By combining IIHMR Delhi’s strengths in healthcare management, public health policy, and health economics with AMTZ’s advanced manufacturing, testing, calibration, and innovation infrastructure, the initiative aims to deliver education that is closely aligned with real-world industry requirements.
Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder CEO of AMTZ, noted that the partnership would help create diverse career opportunities for students and working professionals while addressing the increasing demand for trained management talent in the medical devices sector. He highlighted that specialised and certified programmes introduced under the collaboration would enhance workforce readiness across the broader healthcare ecosystem.
Dr SD Gupta, Trustee Secretary of IIHMR, emphasised that medical devices will play a defining role in healthcare delivery over the coming decade. He underlined the importance of developing strong capabilities not only in innovation, but also in management, regulation, and quality systems, adding that the partnership with AMTZ provides a comprehensive platform to build talent across the entire medical device value chain.
Dr Sutapa, Director of IIHMR, stressed the importance of close academia–industry collaboration, pointing out that direct exposure to manufacturing and innovation environments ensures that education and research remain relevant and industry-oriented. She added that such engagement better prepares graduates while contributing to a more responsive and efficient healthcare system.
Aligned with national priorities such as Make in India and self-reliance in MedTech, the IIHMR–AMTZ partnership aims to strengthen workforce capabilities, generate policy-relevant research, and support the sustainable growth of India’s medical devices sector—ultimately improving access to affordable, high-quality healthcare technologies.
AMTZ, India’s first dedicated medical device manufacturing and innovation park, offers an integrated ecosystem encompassing production facilities, testing and certification services, incubation support, and skill development platforms. Through initiatives such as the Bio Valley Incubation Council, AMTZ continues to support startups and healthcare companies in developing globally competitive and affordable medical technologies.
