Siemens and University of Michigan Launch Free Online Course to Advance Metal Additive Manufacturing Adoption
Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced a new collaboration with the University of Michigan’s (U-M) Centre…
Hypertherm Associates, a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of industrial cutting systems and software, will present its Powermax® plasma cutting technology at CastExpo & Metalcasting Congress 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia, from April 12-15. At booth 1110, attendees will have the opportunity to experience live demonstrations and examine parts cut with the Powermax technology. Company representatives will be available to discuss how plasma cutting can streamline foundry operations by reducing manual effort, improving cut quality, and conserving energy.
The Powermax series, including the Powermax105 SYNC®, provides both manual and automated metal cutting and gouging capabilities. According to a Hypertherm news release, these systems help foundries enhance efficiency and safety during cast trimming and degating processes. The Powermax SYNC series is versatile, designed for both handheld operation and integration with robotic cells, making it an ideal solution for foundry environments.
Additionally, Garen Cakmak, Hypertherm’s director of business development and product management, will be a featured speaker at CastExpo 2025. Cakmak’s session, titled “Automated Plasma Degating Technology for Foundries,” will delve into the science behind plasma cutting, its impact on various metals, and the advantages it offers over traditional degating methods. He will also explore emerging trends such as robotic vision systems and the increasing accessibility of automation in manufacturing.
