Heule Precision Tools has expanded its hole-finishing portfolio with the introduction of VEX tooling, a solution designed to perform drilling and chamfering in one continuous operation. The new tool is aimed at manufacturers seeking higher productivity, improved process reliability, and reduced cycle times in precision machining environments.

VEX tooling is built around a solid-carbide drill tip paired with Heule’s patented SNAP chamfering system, allowing through-holes to be drilled and chamfered without changing tools. By eliminating intermediate tool changes, the system reduces non-cutting time and minimizes the risk of alignment errors, helping maintain consistent hole quality even in high-volume production.

Available in diameters ranging from 5 to 17 mm, the VEX tool is engineered for stable performance across a wide range of materials. A convex cutting edge geometry supports smooth drilling action and produces short, manageable chips, which is particularly beneficial when machining long-chipping materials. This contributes to improved chip control, reduced tool loading, and more predictable machining conditions.

Heule has also focused on mechanical robustness and power transmission in the VEX design. A specially developed connecting system ensures a precise and rigid interface between the tool body, drill tip, and chamfer blade. This rigid connection supports efficient torque transfer and consistent cutting performance, even under demanding cutting conditions.

Chip evacuation is enhanced through a large chip channel that promotes efficient swarf removal. Improved chip flow helps maintain a cleaner machining environment, reduces the risk of chip-related damage, and supports safer, more stable operation on the shop floor.

From a maintenance and cost perspective, the VEX system is designed for ease of use and long service life. Both the drill tip and chamfer blade can be replaced quickly without the need for presetting, minimizing downtime during tool changes. The replaceable drill tip can also be reground and recoated, extending usable life and lowering overall tooling costs.

With VEX tooling, Heule offers manufacturers a practical way to streamline hole-making processes, improve dimensional consistency, and reduce operational complexity. The solution is well-suited for shops focused on productivity gains, process simplification, and reliable precision in drilling and chamfering applications.
