Heule Precision Tools has introduced the Comp V3, a cutting-edge holemaking tool designed to deliver unmatched precision while drilling and countersinking on uneven surfaces—without leaving any marks on the workpiece. Engineered for industries like aerospace, automotive, and precision machining, this tool is particularly beneficial where surface integrity and fine finishes are critical.
The Comp V3 enhances productivity by eliminating manual inconsistencies commonly associated with countersinking operations. Its specialized non-rotational contact foot ensures that the workpiece remains unmarked during machining, a key advantage when working with high-value materials and components that demand pristine finishes.
Offering a fine adjustment accuracy of 0.0008 inches (0.02 mm) for chamfer depth and a drill depth of up to 2×D, the Comp V3 features through-coolant capabilities for efficient chip evacuation and thermal control. It delivers clean, precise countersinks across a wide range of materials, including aluminum, titanium, and composite alloys—making it an ideal solution for aircraft seat rails, floorboards, structural parts, aluminum wheels, and other high-precision applications.
A standout feature of the Comp V3 is its double compensation technology, which ensures fine control and repeatability. As the tool drills, the contact ring compresses; once the desired countersink depth is reached, the contact ring holder compresses, achieving a consistent and accurate finish. This mechanism allows for a height variation of ±3.75 mm with increments as fine as +0.02 mm—providing exceptional precision demanded in aerospace and other critical industries.
The Comp V3 assembly includes a solid carbide step drill, contact ring, contact ring holder, and adjustment ring. The operation sequence begins when the tool head makes contact with the surface, followed by the step drill cutting the hole. As drilling proceeds, the contact ring gradually moves up until the preset countersink depth is achieved. Once complete, both the contact ring and its holder move upward while the drill remains stationary, leaving a flawless, ready-to-use surface.
Built with a spring-loaded mechanism, the Comp V3 automatically stops cutting once the exact chamfer size is achieved, preventing overcutting and ensuring consistency. Its threaded quick-change system allows seamless transition between drilling and countersinking, minimizing downtime and optimizing workflow.
Each Comp V3 tool is custom-engineered to meet customer-specific requirements, enabling smooth integration into existing production setups. With this innovation, Heule Precision Tools reinforces its reputation for precision, efficiency, and reliability—setting new benchmarks in holemaking technology for modern manufacturing.
