Henninger Speed Increasers Extend Spindle RPM for Small-Diameter Machining!

Platinum Tooling Technologies Inc. has introduced Henninger speed increasers to the North American market, expanding access to high-speed spindle solutions for machining centers. The systems are designed to increase spindle rpm in applications where the base machine spindle cannot achieve the required rotational speeds.

Speed increasers are particularly valuable in operations involving small-diameter tools, where high cutting speeds are essential for maintaining surface finish quality, tool life and machining efficiency. By delivering higher rpm at the tool, these units enable manufacturers to meet performance requirements without pushing the primary machine spindle to its maximum limits, potentially reducing spindle wear and extending machine life.

Mechanical speed increasers are available with gear ratios up to 1:8 and maximum speeds of 50,000 rpm. For applications demanding even higher rotational speeds, air-driven models are engineered for continuous operation up to 80,000 rpm. High-frequency motor-driven spindles are also offered, providing speeds up to 80,000 rpm along with high torque output and variable speed capability to accommodate diverse machining requirements.

Many of the models are compatible with automatic tool change systems, allowing seamless integration into modern CNC machining workflows. Their modular construction provides flexibility across a range of machining tasks, enabling users to adapt the system to different materials, cutting strategies and production setups.

By incorporating Henninger speed increasers into machining centers, manufacturers can expand their spindle performance envelope, improve small-tool productivity and achieve higher cutting efficiency without major machine modifications.
