Greaves Electric Mobility expands to Nepal with launch of Ampere Nexus electric scooter!
Greaves Electric Mobility (GEM), the electric mobility arm of Greaves Cotton Limited, has entered the Nepal market through a strategic partnership with STC Auto Solution Private Limited. As part of its international growth strategy, the company has introduced its flagship electric scooter, Ampere Nexus, aimed at addressing the rising demand for dependable and high-performance electric two-wheelers in the region.
The Ampere Nexus has been specifically engineered to operate effectively in challenging road and climatic conditions. Nepal’s terrain includes steep gradients, uneven rural roads and significant altitude variations, all of which require strong torque delivery and reliable battery performance. The scooter is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, known for enhanced thermal stability and long cycle life, along with a stable ride configuration designed to ensure safety and durability. These features are intended to deliver consistent performance in both congested urban environments and hilly routes.
Prior to its international rollout, the Ampere Nexus underwent performance validation across demanding terrains in India. It successfully completed trials in Kolli Hills, known for sharp hairpin bends, and traversed high-altitude conditions at Shipki La Pass. These real-world tests helped demonstrate the scooter’s ability to handle difficult gradients, temperature fluctuations and varied road surfaces, reinforcing its suitability for Nepal’s diverse landscape.
The Nepal launch marks a significant milestone in Greaves Electric Mobility’s broader international expansion plan. By entering neighboring markets with similar terrain and mobility requirements, the company aims to strengthen its regional footprint while contributing to the transition toward cleaner transportation solutions. Electric mobility adoption in Nepal has been gaining momentum due to supportive policies and increasing consumer awareness of sustainable transport options.
Greaves Cotton Limited, the parent organization, brings more than 165 years of engineering experience to the mobility sector. Originally recognized for diesel engine manufacturing, the group has evolved into a provider of fuel-agnostic mobility solutions. Through its diversified business units in engineering, electric mobility, retail, finance and technology, Greaves Cotton is building an integrated ecosystem that connects customers, channel partners and service networks across the mobility value chain.
Greaves Electric Mobility itself has over 17 years of experience in electric vehicle design and manufacturing, serving both electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad, Noida and Ranipet and supports its domestic customer base through more than 400 dealer touchpoints across India.
With the introduction of the Ampere Nexus in Nepal, Greaves Electric Mobility aims to combine proven engineering capabilities with localized market partnerships, supporting sustainable transportation growth while expanding its international presence.
