General Mills India has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Nashik, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the country’s food and bakery sector. The company has invested approximately INR 100 crore in the project, marking its second production facility in the region and strengthening its domestic manufacturing footprint.
The Nashik plant has been developed using advanced manufacturing technologies aligned with global quality standards. The facility emphasizes food safety, product consistency and responsible resource utilization, reflecting General Mills’ focus on operational excellence and sustainable growth. The expansion enhances the company’s capacity to meet rising consumer demand while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
A key objective of the new plant is to improve supply chain performance across India. By reducing lead times and expanding production capacity, the facility will increase nationwide availability of Pillsbury products. Improved accessibility is expected to benefit thousands of bakeries by ensuring reliable supply and consistent product quality, supporting the continued growth of India’s bakery ecosystem.
In addition to strengthening operations, the facility is anticipated to generate economic benefits in the Nashik region. The plant has created both direct and indirect employment opportunities across manufacturing, logistics and support functions. Increased procurement of raw materials and related services is also expected to stimulate local supplier networks and ancillary industries.
Balki Radhakrishnan, Vice President and Managing Director of Global Emerging Markets at General Mills, stated that the new facility enhances the company’s ability to serve consumers and bakery partners across India with greater scale and speed.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior company leadership, representatives from the US Consulate in Mumbai and officials from the Government of Maharashtra, underscoring the strategic importance of the investment. With the addition of the Nashik facility, General Mills strengthens its role in India’s evolving food manufacturing landscape while contributing to regional economic development and supply chain resilience.
