Flexxbotics Revolutionizes Robot-Driven Manufacturing at SpiTrex Orthopedics
Flexxbotics, a pioneer in workcell digitalization for robot-driven manufacturing, has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with SpiTrex Orthopedics (SpiTrex), a leading global medical device contract manufacturer. SpiTrex has chosen Flexxbotics’ solution to enhance its FOBA laser marking machine workcells with autonomous process control.
The Flexxbotics solution empowers robots to communicate directly with the FOBA laser marking system, enabling real-time job changes within sequence and reducing changeover time to an impressive 10 minutes, only twice a week. Furthermore, the integrated vision system allows the robots to autonomously verify laser marking on each part and sort them based on quality, ensuring closed-loop quality control for enhanced yields.
Brett Gopal, Senior Vice President of Operations at SpiTrex Orthopedics, emphasized the unique capabilities of Flexxbotics, stating, “Flexxbotics is the only solution capable of delivering the precision, cycle-time, and closed-loop compliance required for our operations. The autonomous process control and closed feedback loop functionalities significantly improve our throughput and profitability.”
Flexxbotics’ solution was selected by SpiTrex based on several key criteria, including its ability to autonomously configure robots and the FOBA laser marker for each job, closed-loop in-line inspection with the COGNEX vision system, open connectivity with existing IT systems, and interchangeable carousels for quick changeovers.
Tyler Bouchard, Co-founder & CEO of Flexxbotics, expressed pride in the collaboration with SpiTrex, highlighting the importance of autonomous process control in advanced machining operations. He emphasized Flexxbotics’ commitment to revolutionizing robot-driven manufacturing in sectors like medical, defense, aerospace, and automotive.
SpiTrex Orthopedics, renowned for its expertise in complex orthopedic implants, operates across North America and Europe, focusing on the Spine, Trauma, and Extremity markets.
Flexxbotics’ innovative FlexxCORE™ technology serves as the backbone of smart factories, delivering autonomous process control for next-generation machining environments. With its seamless integration of robots with existing automation equipment and IT systems, Flexxbotics is at the forefront of transforming manufacturing operations worldwide.
