Farsoon’s FS1211M Targets Industrial-Scale Production of Large Metal Additive Manufacturing Components!
Farsoon Technologies, headquartered in Changsha, China, has introduced the FS1211M Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) system, purpose-built for industrial-scale metal Additive Manufacturing. Designed to meet the growing demand for large, high-integrity metal components, the FS1211M combines a substantial build envelope of 1,330 × 700 × 1,700 mm with a high-powered multi-laser architecture. The platform is aimed at demanding industries such as aerospace, oil and gas, and energy, where part size, structural integrity, and repeatability are critical.
At the core of the FS1211M is its scalable laser configuration, supporting up to sixteen 500 W fibre lasers equipped with high-speed galvo systems. Depending on application needs, users can configure the system with ten or sixteen lasers to balance throughput and precision. Farsoon states that this architecture enables production rates of up to 400 cm³ per hour, making the system well suited for serial manufacturing of large-format and bi-axially oversized components that are traditionally difficult or costly to produce.
One of the key challenges in large-format metal Additive Manufacturing is ensuring consistent mechanical properties and surface quality across the entire build area. Farsoon addresses this with an advanced chamber airflow design developed through iterative simulation and optimisation. The engineered wind field delivers uniform gas flow throughout the build chamber, while optimised vent placement and flow guidance help maintain a stable thermal and processing environment. This approach is intended to deliver repeatable part quality, uniform material properties, and reliable surface finishes across large builds.
Beyond build performance, the FS1211M is designed to support streamlined and sustainable production workflows. The system functions as an integrated production cell featuring a three-station setup for building, breakout, and part extraction, connected through an internal conveyor system. This configuration reduces manual handling, improves safety, and maximises uptime during serial production of large components.
Powder handling and material efficiency are central to the FS1211M’s design. A modular container system enables loading, recycling, and sieving under full inert gas protection, ensuring continuous powder supply while maintaining material quality. This closed-loop approach allows operators to closely monitor powder condition, reduce waste, and improve overall material utilisation. A permanent filtration system further supports uninterrupted operation during the long build cycles typical of large-format parts.
Like other Farsoon systems, the FS1211M is built on the company’s Open Platform philosophy. This allows users to customise process parameters, materials, and software to suit specific applications, rather than being locked into fixed settings. This flexibility makes the FS1211M adaptable across a wide range of alloys, part geometries, and industrial use cases, reinforcing its role as a production-focused solution for large-scale metal Additive Manufacturing.
