ESAB has unveiled its upgraded Suprarex PRO, a heavy-duty large-gantry cutting and beveling system engineered for demanding applications in wind tower manufacturing, shipbuilding, oil and gas, rail car production and other large-plate fabrication environments. With significant structural and performance enhancements, the latest version of the Suprarex PRO delivers greater stability, expanded cutting capacity and increased throughput for industries that rely on precision cutting of thick, large-format materials.
A major highlight of the upgrade is the redesigned gantry structure. The system features a larger, more robust gantry beam paired with improved side carriages that maintain rigidity even at high travel speeds of up to 40 m/minute. This increased stability ensures smoother motion, higher accuracy and more consistent cutting performance across large work areas. The machine’s track widths—now available up to 10.5 meters—support cutting surfaces as wide as 9.5 meters, allowing fabricators to handle massive plates with ease and efficiency.
The upgraded Suprarex PRO offers extensive flexibility in tooling and process configuration. The gantry can be equipped with up to four plasma torches, two DMX bevel systems, 12 oxy-fuel torches, and the advanced IR-VBA infinite rotation bevel head, enabling a wide variety of cutting and beveling operations. Notably, the system supports SmartJet Green hydrogen cutting technology, which represents a step toward more environmentally conscious fabrication solutions. Additionally, tools such as the Drill System 307 and multiple marking options expand the machine’s capability to serve as a complete plate processing platform. The Suprarex PRO can also cut with multiple DMX bevel heads simultaneously and handle side-by-side plates, significantly boosting productivity.
ESAB’s advanced DMX Beveller is fully integrated into the system, enhancing plasma cutting accuracy, edge quality and hole cylindricity through the company’s SquareCut Technology. This integration not only improves the precision of bevel cuts but also optimizes cutting speeds and workflow efficiency. The Suprarex PRO is equipped with the Vision T6 CNC and is compatible with ESAB’s iSeries plasma power sources, supporting outputs up to 800 amps for high-speed, heavy-duty plasma cutting. Enhanced process control features such as SmartCycle 2.0 help reduce cycle times, while seamless connectivity with Columbus CAD/CAM software and InduSuite CutCloud analytics ensures a fully integrated digital workflow.
Operator safety and serviceability were also priorities in this upgrade. The Suprarex PRO incorporates advanced safety features including light curtains and protective bumpers that maintain a safe environment even if an operator becomes incapacitated. Its safe-speed mode, which limits travel to under 2 m/minute, allows personnel to work safely inside the machine envelope—especially important during oxy-fuel slag removal. To reduce downtime and simplify maintenance, ESAB has introduced a new cam-lock X-axis disengage mechanism, enabling quicker service access with minimal effort.
With its upgraded design, expanded cutting capabilities, improved operator safety and advanced digital integration, the latest Suprarex PRO offers fabricators a powerful solution for high-precision, high-volume plate processing. This evolution reflects ESAB’s ongoing commitment to advancing cutting technology and supporting industries that rely on robust, efficient and intelligent fabrication systems.
