Cummins Inc. has announced a major investment of $50 million to expand its power systems manufacturing facility in Daventry, Northamptonshire. The expansive 435,000-square-foot plant is responsible for the production and distribution of engines ranging from 38 litre to 95 litre, which are crucial for various sectors including data centres, healthcare, oil and gas, rail, and marine applications.
This initiative is part of a previously announced $200 million investment package aimed at enhancing manufacturing capacity. The expansion will include the introduction of a new 315-square-metre assembly line that will house three cutting-edge machining centres and block wash systems.
The development is also set to revamp the plant’s test cell capabilities, addressing the growing global demand for power generation products. This move is expected to bolster the UK’s standing in delivering crucial backup power for critical infrastructure worldwide.
The Daventry plant, which employs over 1,100 staff, is a key component of Cummins’ global operations. It specializes in manufacturing advanced power generation sets and high-horsepower engines, contributing significantly to Cummins’ presence in the UK and its overall global strategy.
Cummins, an American-owned manufacturer, operates several sites across the UK, with the Daventry facility playing a pivotal role in meeting international demand for reliable power solutions. This investment underscores the company’s commitment to maintaining robust manufacturing capabilities and supporting critical sectors with innovative power systems.
