Cummins Celebrates 20 Years of Nurturing Brilliance, Empowers 520 Future Engineers!
Cummins India Limited has marked a significant milestone by celebrating 20 years of its flagship ‘Nurturing Brilliance’ initiative, reaffirming its commitment to empowering the next generation of engineers. As part of this achievement, the company has awarded scholarships to 520 students for the 2025–26 academic year, continuing its mission to support talented individuals from underserved communities.
The program, implemented through the Cummins India Foundation, has grown into a powerful platform for enabling access to engineering education. The latest cohort of scholars was welcomed at a ceremony held at the company’s campus in Pune, attended by Shveta Arya and Ashish Aggarwal. The event celebrated not just academic achievement but also the aspirations and potential of students who represent the future of India’s engineering talent pool.
This year, the initiative received an overwhelming response, with more than 9,600 applications from across the country. After a rigorous selection process based on merit and financial need, 520 students were chosen, including 20 students with disabilities, highlighting the program’s strong focus on inclusivity and equal opportunity. Since its inception, ‘Nurturing Brilliance’ has supported over 3,100 students, with women accounting for more than half of the beneficiaries, reflecting Cummins’ emphasis on diversity and gender inclusion in technical education.
Speaking at the event, Shveta Arya highlighted the transformative power of education in unlocking opportunities and driving social progress. She emphasized that for two decades, the initiative has been dedicated to ensuring that financial barriers do not limit talent or ambition. By providing access to education along with mentorship and industry exposure, the program is shaping engineers who are not only technically skilled but also equipped to contribute meaningfully to society and the economy.
What sets ‘Nurturing Brilliance’ apart is its holistic approach to development. Beyond financial assistance covering tuition and academic expenses, the program offers structured mentorship from industry professionals, hands-on exposure to real-world work environments, and training in soft skills and employability. Scholars also become part of a growing network of peers and mentors, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and long-term professional growth.
From its humble beginnings in Pune in 2006 with just 13 students, the initiative has evolved into a nationwide, digitally enabled platform. Today, it reaches aspiring engineers across multiple industrial regions, including Phaltan, Ahilyanagar, Indore, Jamshedpur, Dharashiv, Vidisha, Guna, and Ranchi. This expansion reflects Cummins’ sustained commitment to building a skilled, inclusive, and future-ready workforce.
Overall, the 20-year journey of ‘Nurturing Brilliance’ stands as a testament to how industry-led initiatives can create meaningful impact by bridging the gap between education and opportunity, while nurturing the talent that will drive India’s engineering and manufacturing future.
