Continuum Powders has officially inaugurated its new global headquarters and manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. The facility, which is North America’s largest sustainable metal powder production site, underscores the company’s commitment to decarbonizing the manufacturing industry while meeting the growing demand for eco-friendly metal powders.
The grand opening ceremony, held on December 5, 2024, featured prominent attendees, including Cory Steffek of Ara Partners, Betty Russo from the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office under Governor Greg Abbott, Rob Higby, CEO of Continuum Powders, and Rizk Ghafari, COO of Continuum Powders. Guests were provided with a firsthand look at the facility’s low-carbon production methods and cutting-edge technology.
The Houston facility is designed as a net-zero carbon manufacturing center, incorporating renewable energy systems, low-emission gas technologies, and advanced recycling processes. These sustainable measures, combined with the pursuit of green certification goals, enable Continuum Powders to set a new standard for environmentally responsible manufacturing. The site is equipped to maximize energy efficiency while reducing the environmental footprint of its operations.
Central to the facility’s operations is Continuum Powders’ proprietary Greyhound M2P (melt-to-powder) plasma atomization system. This innovative technology enables the repurposing of alloyed metal waste streams into high-quality metal powders in a single step. The process minimizes transportation, primary melting, and long bar processing operations, reducing the reliance on mining elemental metals and supporting a cradle-to-cradle manufacturing approach.
“This facility expands our production capabilities while advancing our mission to decarbonize the manufacturing industry,” said Rob Higby, CEO of Continuum Powders. “We are committed to providing high-quality, cost-competitive metal powders with minimal environmental impact, aligning perfectly with the needs of forward-thinking industries.”
Rizk Ghafari, COO, emphasized the significance of the facility, stating, “Houston represents a leap forward in our operational efficiency and sustainability efforts. By combining state-of-the-art technology with a commitment to decarbonization, we are setting a new benchmark for responsible manufacturing.”
With the opening of its Houston facility, Continuum Powders is revolutionizing metal powder production by combining sustainability, innovation, and operational efficiency. This milestone solidifies the company’s leadership in the advanced manufacturing sector and its dedication to supporting global decarbonization efforts.
