Ceratizit has introduced its new MaxiMill – S-Power face milling cutters, specifically engineered to tackle the most demanding challenges in cast iron machining, including tool wear, burr formation, and breakout. Designed with a robust structure and high-performance materials, this advanced face mill delivers exceptional precision, durability, and ease of use.
The MaxiMill – S-Power features a 12-insert pocket design at Ø63 mm and utilizes double-sided indexable inserts to maximize cutting efficiency and tool life. Each insert offers eight cutting edges made from premium substrates, enhanced with Ceratizit’s proprietary Dragonskin coating. This combination ensures smoother cutting performance, higher wear resistance, and consistent quality, even in tough materials like ductile cast iron and compacted graphite iron.
A standout feature of the MaxiMill – S-Power is its innovative double wedge clamping system. This design ensures that inserts are not only securely locked in place but also easy to change. Each double wedge is fastened with a single screw, allowing for quick and accurate insert replacement—minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. Anti-twist protection on the wedges and separate clamping wedges for each holder diameter further enhance operational stability and safety.
The milling cutter’s solid construction provides low axial and radial run-out, while its 88° setting angle allows for a maximum number of cutting edges. The peripherally ground inserts guarantee tight tolerances and an excellent surface finish. Additionally, the inserts’ increased thickness compared to conventional designs ensures greater strength and stability under heavy cutting loads.
Available in standard diameters ranging from Ø56 to Ø125 mm, the MaxiMill – S-Power series extends Ceratizit’s proven lineup of face milling systems. It’s particularly suited for machining various cast iron grades, including ductile, compacted graphite, and gray cast iron. The inserts come in ISO P/K classifications with M-type cutting edge geometry and corner radii options of 0.4 mm, 0.8 mm, and 1.2 mm. The grades available include CTPK220, CTCP230, and ceramic—each selected for optimal performance in different machining conditions.
By combining durability, precision, and operational efficiency, the MaxiMill – S-Power empowers manufacturers to achieve superior surface finishes while reducing costs associated with frequent tool changes and insert replacements.
With this launch, Ceratizit reinforces its reputation as a technology leader in high-performance cutting tools, offering innovative solutions that meet the growing demands of modern machining operations—where consistency, reliability, and speed are key to productivity and profitability.
