**Caterpillar Inc. has announced an expanded collaboration with *NVIDIA* to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence and robotics across construction, mining, energy, and manufacturing operations.** The initiative is aimed at improving machine performance, enhancing workplace safety, increasing production efficiency, and strengthening supply chain planning through advanced AI-driven technologies.

As part of the collaboration, Caterpillar plans to leverage NVIDIA’s high-performance computing platforms to enable real-time data processing and advanced automation in its equipment. The NVIDIA Jetson Thor platform will be deployed across Caterpillar’s construction, mining, and power systems, supporting AI-assisted operations, intelligent operator guidance, and future autonomous capabilities. By processing large volumes of sensor and operational data at the edge, these systems will allow machines to adapt dynamically to changing jobsite conditions and make faster, more informed decisions.

A key highlight of the partnership was showcased at CES 2026, where Caterpillar introduced the Cat AI Assistant, a new digital support tool integrated into Caterpillar’s onboard and digital products. Designed to improve ease of use and productivity, the assistant enables voice-based interaction, allowing operators to quickly access equipment information, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guidance. The solution is powered by NVIDIA Riva speech models and draws on Caterpillar’s proprietary data hosted on its Helios data platform, ensuring responses are accurate, contextual, and tailored to specific machines and operating conditions.

Beyond equipment-level intelligence, Caterpillar is also applying AI across its manufacturing and supply chain operations. Using NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure, the company is enhancing demand forecasting, production scheduling, and factory planning to improve efficiency and resilience. These capabilities are expected to help Caterpillar respond more effectively to market fluctuations while maintaining high levels of quality and delivery performance.

Caterpillar is further advancing its digital manufacturing strategy by developing digital replicas of its factories using NVIDIA Omniverse tools. These virtual environments allow teams to simulate factory layouts, workflows, and process changes before physical implementation, reducing risk, shortening commissioning times, and supporting safer, more efficient production environments.

Through this expanded collaboration, Caterpillar and NVIDIA are working to embed AI across the entire industrial value chain—from machines and jobsites to factories and logistics networks. The effort aligns with Caterpillar’s long-term strategy to deliver higher productivity, improved safety, and greater operational reliability for customers operating in demanding environments worldwide.

With $64.8 billion in sales and revenues in 2024, Caterpillar Inc. is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. For more than a century, the company has supported global infrastructure development while continuing to invest in technologies that enable a more sustainable, lower-carbon future.
