Canoo Acquires EV Manufacturing Facility in Oklahoma City

Canoo, an electric vehicle manufacturer, has signed a long-term lease deal with an affiliate of AFV Partners, a linked party, for its newly announced Vehicle Manufacturing Facility in Oklahoma City. Canoo will initially occupy around 500,000 square feet, with the potential to expand. Canoo aims to hire more than 500 individuals in phase one, with teams growing up over the next few months.

“One of the reasons we chose Oklahoma is that it has one of the most incredible work forces in America.” They’ve proven themselves in a variety of industries, including aviation and aero defence, which is why we’re excited to announce our second manufacturing facility in Oklahoma City, following our Vehicle Module Manufacturing Facility event on April 5 in Pryor, OK’, said Tony Aquila, Chairman and CEO of Canoo. “I’d like to thank Mayor Holt and the people of Oklahoma City for their hospitality.” I’d also like to thank Secretary of Commerce Mariska and his team for their assistance, as well as Terex leadership for allowing us to begin working with our teams before the close.”

Canoo’s Oklahoma City Manufacturing Facility will support a full general and final vehicle assembly line, state-of-the-art robotics, a body shop, paint shop, and automated paint line including e-coat and sealing, quality control, complete vehicle testing, validation, and more on more than 120 acres. The site, which already has a training centre and a test track, is close to road, rail, and waterways, making it perfect for sophisticated supply chains and manufacturing. This facility will be powered by OG&E and will have the option of incorporating renewable energy. Canoo’s recently announced Pryor facility includes GRDA-powered renewable energy sources.
