Bombardier Expands Use of Siemens Xcelerator Software to Streamline Aircraft Development!

Bombardier, a global leader in the aviation industry, has further expanded its use of Siemens Xcelerator software to enhance and streamline its aircraft development processes. The company, renowned for its business jets and specialized mission platforms, aims to optimize product engineering and push the boundaries of aerospace innovation with this strategic move.

By adopting Siemens’ NX software for 3D modeling, simulation, and manufacturing, along with Capital software for electronic and electrical systems design, Bombardier is setting the stage for a more integrated, efficient development cycle. This addition comes alongside Bombardier’s long-standing use of Siemens’ Teamcenter software for product lifecycle management (PLM) since 2018. With the new expansion, Bombardier plans to replace its legacy systems, creating a seamless, integrated digital thread that links mechanical and electrical design together in a PLM-based collaborative environment.

In a move to further enhance its digital capabilities, Bombardier has also incorporated Siemens’ Mendix low-code platform. This collaboration has already led to the creation of the company’s first Mendix app, designed to improve efficiency by enabling search functionality that connects external application data with Teamcenter. By improving data quality and security, this addition simplifies the workflow, saving time and reducing the workload for Bombardier’s internal IT team.

Todd Tuthill, Vice President of Aerospace & Defense Industry at Siemens Digital Industries Software, emphasized that Bombardier’s expansion into more of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio reflects the value Bombardier has seen from the digital solutions and the cohesive digital thread that optimizes the aircraft development process. Tuthill looks forward to continuing the collaboration with Bombardier to explore sustainable innovations in the aerospace sector.

Bombardier is also taking the opportunity to collaborate with Siemens on workforce development by partnering with universities and schools. This collaboration aims to give students access to Siemens’ software, helping to equip the next generation of engineers with the skills they need to succeed in the industry.

In summary, this collaboration marks a significant step for Bombardier in transforming its aircraft development processes. By expanding its use of Siemens Xcelerator software and working on workforce development initiatives, Bombardier is enhancing its technological capabilities and solidifying its position as a leader in the aerospace industry.
