In a significant step toward bolstering India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities, Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL) has announced the establishment of a state-of-the-art ring mill dedicated to producing advanced aerospace components. This development follows BFL’s contract win with Pratt & Whitney Canada, reinforcing its position as a global supplier of high-performance engineering solutions.
The new facility will be engineered to meet the stringent quality, precision, and traceability standards required for critical engine applications in the aerospace sector. It will incorporate cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, automation, and data-driven production systems to deliver components of exceptional reliability and performance.
Amit Kalyani, Vice-Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, emphasized the strategic value of the project, stating,
“We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with Pratt & Whitney Canada through this new ring mill. This facility not only underscores our commitment to the global aerospace industry but also contributes significantly to India’s growing manufacturing prowess in advanced aerospace components.”
The partnership is equally significant for Pratt & Whitney, which views India as a key growth market and manufacturing partner. Frederic Lefebvre, Vice President of Supply Chain at Pratt & Whitney Canada, noted,
“This project reflects our dedication to building a robust global supply chain and fostering growth within India’s aerospace sector. With over 70 years of presence in India and a team of 800+ employees, we’re proud to support the development of next-generation engines with trusted partners like Bharat Forge.”
Set to be operational by 2026, the ring mill will serve both domestic and global aerospace programs, contributing to India’s broader ambition of becoming a leading hub for aerospace and defense manufacturing under the Make in India initiative. The facility is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening indigenous capabilities, generating high-skill employment, and elevating India’s role in the global aviation value chain.
With this investment, Bharat Forge not only scales its aerospace footprint but also showcases India’s readiness to deliver mission-critical components that meet international benchmarks for innovation, quality, and performance.
