AXISCADES Strengthens Partnership with MBDA to Advance Missile Production and Defence Localisation!
By Ashutosh Arora
AXISCADES Aerospace & Technologies Pvt Ltd has expanded its long-standing partnership with MBDA, marking a significant step forward in India’s defence manufacturing and missile technology ecosystem. The collaboration, which began a decade ago with the development of advanced test benches for the MICA missile, has steadily grown to include missile launcher programs and deeper integration across critical defence platforms. This latest expansion reinforces both companies’ commitment to accelerating indigenous capabilities under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
A major highlight of the strengthened partnership is the inauguration of AXISCADES’ expanded test bench facility at its Aeroland campus in Bengaluru. This upgraded centre is designed to support the mass production of advanced test benches for multiple missile platforms, enabling faster deployment, improved quality control, and increased production scale. The facility enhances AXISCADES’ role as a key contributor to missile system validation and testing for MBDA’s global requirements.
In a significant move to boost domestic defence manufacturing, AXISCADES will establish a dedicated MBDA system integration centre at the Devanahalli Atmanirbhar Cluster near Bengaluru. This new facility will serve as a hub for integrating critical missile subsystems, supporting large-scale assembly, and building advanced technologies within India. The centre is expected to accelerate localisation of missile components and contribute meaningfully to India’s defence industrial base.
Additionally, AXISCADES is setting up a Missile Atmanirbhar Complex in Hyderabad. This new complex will focus on high-volume production of next-generation missile systems, expanding the company’s capability to cater to both domestic defence requirements and global export demands. The Hyderabad facility will further strengthen India’s position as an emerging hub for advanced missile manufacturing.
MBDA has welcomed this deepened collaboration. Florent Duleux, Group Director of Export Sales at MBDA, stated that the new test bench centre at Aeroland and the upcoming integration facility at Devanahalli will support India’s Make in India goals while addressing MBDA’s growing international requirements. He emphasised that the expanded infrastructure will enhance operational efficiency and support the company’s global missile production programs.
Dr Sampath Ravinarayanan, Founder Chairman and Managing Director of AXISCADES, expressed pride in strengthening ties with one of the world’s leading missile system manufacturers. He highlighted that the expanded partnership aligns with AXISCADES’ mission to build advanced indigenous technologies and contribute substantially to India’s missile production ecosystem. Reflecting on the decade-long collaboration, he noted that the journey has been highly rewarding and that both companies are poised to achieve significant new milestones in the years ahead.
With expanded infrastructure, increased localisation efforts, and a shared commitment to cutting-edge defence technology, AXISCADES and MBDA are positioned to play a vital role in shaping the future of India’s missile manufacturing capabilities and supporting global defence needs.
