Avro India Commissions Large-Scale Flexible Plastic Recycling Facility in Ghaziabad!

Avro India Limited has launched a new greenfield flexible plastic recycling facility in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, marking a major step toward addressing one of the most complex challenges in India’s waste management ecosystem. Operated through its wholly owned subsidiary AVRO Recycling Limited, the plant is positioned as India’s largest organized recycling facility dedicated to flexible plastic waste, with an initial processing capacity of 500 metric tonnes per month.

The project represents a capital investment of ₹25 crore so far, with Avro planning to invest an additional ₹30 crore by FY27 as part of its long-term expansion roadmap. The facility has been specifically designed to handle difficult-to-recycle plastic waste streams such as cement bags, multilayer food packaging, and industrial sacks—materials that traditionally end up in landfills or informal recycling channels due to their complexity and contamination levels.

After more than three years of in-house research, trials, and process development, Avro has engineered a proprietary recycling system capable of converting these complex waste streams into high-quality recycled plastic granules. These granules are suitable for use in a wide range of durable and semi-durable applications, including plastic furniture, air coolers, washing machines, automotive components, and other industrial products. According to the company, the recycled material delivers cost savings of up to 40% compared to virgin plastic, while still meeting required performance, strength, and durability standards.

The commissioning of the Ghaziabad facility comes at a critical time for the Indian plastics industry. With Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations mandating the use of recycled content in plastic products, demand for reliable, industrial-scale sources of recycled raw material is rising rapidly. Avro’s new facility aims to bridge this gap by supplying consistent volumes of quality recycled granules, helping manufacturers comply with regulatory requirements while controlling material costs.

Beyond regulatory compliance, the initiative supports broader circular economy objectives by diverting large volumes of flexible plastic waste from landfills and transforming them into valuable secondary raw materials. By focusing on scale, process reliability, and product quality, Avro is attempting to formalize a segment of recycling that has historically been fragmented and underdeveloped.

Commenting on the launch, Sushil Kumar Aggarwal, Chairman and Whole-Time Director of Avro India Limited, said the company’s approach is centered on combining technology, scale, and long-term intent to convert plastic waste into economically viable resources. He added that Avro plans to develop a pan-India network of recycling facilities, strengthening supply chains for recycled plastics and supporting India’s transition toward more sustainable material usage.

With the Ghaziabad plant now operational, Avro India strengthens its position not only as a manufacturer of plastic products but also as an emerging player in industrial-scale plastic recycling. The investment signals a strategic shift toward sustainability-led growth, aligning regulatory compliance, environmental responsibility, and commercial viability in one integrated manufacturing and recycling ecosystem.
