Apple Commits Over $500 Billion to U.S. Investment, Fueling Manufacturing, AI, and R&D Growth

Apple today unveiled its largest-ever investment commitment in the United States, announcing plans to spend more than $500 billion over the next four years. The massive investment will support expanded manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, silicon engineering, and workforce development across the country — reinforcing Apple’s role as a driving force in American innovation.

“We are bullish on the future of American innovation,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. “From doubling our Advanced Manufacturing Fund to building cutting-edge technology in Texas, we’re thrilled to expand our support for American manufacturing. This $500 billion commitment will help shape the next chapter of American ingenuity.”

Expanding Footprint Across Nine States

Apple’s investments will bolster operations and partnerships in Michigan, Texas, California, Arizona, Nevada, Iowa, Oregon, North Carolina, and Washington, including:

  • A new 250,000-square-foot server manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, slated to open in 2026, supporting Apple Intelligence and Private Cloud Compute.
  • Expanded data center capacity in North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada.
  • Growth of R&D teams and facilities focused on AI, machine learning, and custom silicon across the U.S.

Doubling the U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund

Apple is doubling its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund from $5 billion to $10 billion, deepening support for cutting-edge manufacturing jobs and next-gen technology. A major component includes production of advanced silicon at TSMC’s Fab 21 in Arizona, where Apple is the largest customer.

Apple’s silicon supply chain now includes 24 U.S. factories in 12 states, employing thousands of workers and driving innovation through partnerships with companies such as Broadcom, Texas Instruments, Skyworks, and Qorvo.

New Manufacturing Academy in Detroit

To help train the next generation of skilled workers, Apple will launch the Apple Manufacturing Academy in Detroit, Michigan. In collaboration with experts from institutions like Michigan State University, the academy will offer free courses on project management, AI, and smart manufacturing to support small- and mid-sized businesses.

R&D and Workforce Development

Apple has nearly doubled its U.S.-based advanced R&D spend over the past five years and plans to hire 20,000 new employees, with most roles focused on AI, silicon engineering, and software development. Recent breakthroughs include the Apple C1, the company’s first custom modem, delivering record energy efficiency in the new iPhone 16e.

Apple also continues to support educational initiatives, expanding its New Silicon Initiative to universities including Georgia Tech and UCLA, and increasing funding for youth programs through partners like 4-H, FIRST, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

With this historic investment, Apple strengthens its long-term vision to lead in next-generation technologies, support American jobs, and build a more innovative and sustainable U.S. manufacturing ecosystem.
