Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd (ARE&M) announced the appointment of Narayan Choudhary as its new Chief Operations Officer, marking a significant leadership transition at a time when the company is accelerating its manufacturing transformation and long-term growth agenda. Choudhary succeeded C. Narasimhulu Naidu, who retired after more than three decades of service, during which he played a key role in building the company’s manufacturing and operational foundation.

In his new role, Choudhary took charge of ARE&M’s manufacturing and operations strategy across businesses, with a mandate to drive operational excellence, efficiency, and large-scale transformation. His appointment reflected the company’s focus on strengthening execution capabilities as it expands into advanced energy solutions and mobility technologies.

Choudhary brought close to 30 years of experience spanning the automotive and industrial sectors, with a strong track record in leading complex transformation programmes. His expertise covered greenfield project execution, deployment of new manufacturing technologies, supply chain design, quality systems, and large workforce management. Prior to joining Amara Raja Energy & Mobility, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Business Head at Taco Punch Powertrain, where he was involved in scaling operations and driving technology-led manufacturing improvements.

ARE&M leadership highlighted that the appointment aligned with the company’s push towards Industry 4.0 and digitally enabled manufacturing. Harshavardhana Gourineni, Executive Director at ARE&M, stated that Choudhary’s experience in automation, smart factories, and data-driven operations would play an important role in advancing the company’s “Factories of the Future” initiative. This programme aims to create highly automated, digitally connected, and globally benchmarked manufacturing systems capable of supporting new energy technologies and mobility platforms.

The company emphasised that manufacturing excellence remains a core differentiator for Amara Raja Energy & Mobility, particularly as it diversifies beyond conventional energy storage into advanced battery technologies, electric mobility, and clean energy solutions. Strengthening operations leadership was seen as critical to ensuring scalability, quality consistency, and cost competitiveness across domestic and global markets.

Commenting on his appointment, Choudhary said he was honoured to join an organisation with a strong legacy in manufacturing and operations. He noted that he looked forward to building on this foundation while contributing to the company’s ambition of enhancing its global footprint through world-class operational practices.

With this leadership change, Amara Raja Energy & Mobility signalled its intent to combine experienced internal leadership with external operational expertise, ensuring continuity while positioning the organisation to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving energy and mobility landscape.
