Altair Joins MAM4HP Project to Propel Additive Manufacturing Innovation in Italy!

Altair, a global leader in computational intelligence and simulation software, has announced its participation in the Metallic Additive Manufacturing for High Performances (MAM4HP) research program. This project, which is part of Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU resources, aims to advance Italy’s capabilities in additive manufacturing.

Altair’s involvement in MAM4HP aligns with its mission to drive innovation and accelerate the development of advanced manufacturing solutions. The program brings together some of Italy’s leading companies, including Leonardo, Ducati, Bonfiglioli, Poggipolini, and Jumo Design, to enhance the country’s additive manufacturing technologies.

Stefano Deiana, Vice President for Spain, France, and Italy at Altair, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “Altair is proud to support MAM4HP and help advance Italy’s additive manufacturing capabilities. By combining our simulation and optimization technologies with the ingenuity of other MAM4HP partners, we’re accelerating innovation and enabling the next generation of components.”

The MAM4HP project is structured in two key phases over an 18-month period. The first phase focuses on the redesign and structural optimization of mechanical components to ensure their suitability for additive manufacturing processes. The second phase will optimize printing parameters and post-production processes, ensuring the components are efficiently produced and meet the highest performance standards.

Altair’s HyperWorks design and simulation platform will play a pivotal role in the project, allowing for accelerated redesign activities and enabling faster transitions to manufacturing. Altair’s solutions will also support the analysis and optimization of complex shapes and critical components, improving performance and reducing material waste.

With companies like Leonardo and Ducati involved in the project, MAM4HP is set to have a significant impact on various industries, including aerospace, automotive, and engineering. The program’s goal is to develop advanced components that can be produced using additive manufacturing techniques, leading to cost savings, reduced waste, and faster production times.

Altair is a global leader in computational intelligence, offering software solutions in simulation, high-performance computing (HPC), data analytics, and AI. Altair is part of Siemens Digital Industries Software and is committed to helping industries transform their design and manufacturing processes.
