AJAC Canadian Car of the Year 2025 to Be Announced at Toronto AutoShow!

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has unveiled the 12 Best Vehicles in Canada for 2025, competing as finalists for the prestigious Canadian Car of the Year Awards (CCOTY). The winners will be revealed during the Media Preview Day of the 2025 Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS) on February 13, 2025, in Toronto.
The CCOTY Awards feature four key categories:
- Canadian Car of the Year
- Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year
- Canadian Electric Car of the Year
- Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year

The 12 vehicles vying for the awards represent a mix of newcomers and established favorites among Canadian buyers:
Canadian Car of the Year
- Acura Integra Type-S
- Honda Civic
- Toyota Camry
Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year
- Hyundai Santa Fe
- Mazda CX-70
- Toyota LandCruiser
Canadian Electric Car of the Year
- BMW i4
- FIAT 500e
- Lucid Air
Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year
- Hyundai IONIQ 5 N
- Kia EV9
- Mazda CX-70 Plug-In
AJAC’s selection process involves 48 top automotive journalists from across Canada who test and evaluate vehicles on the same roads and in the same conditions that Canadian drivers experience daily. Over 600 detailed ballots were submitted and audited by KPMG to ensure transparency and accuracy.
Evan Williams, AJAC President, highlighted the importance of the awards: “Our jurors work tirelessly each year to evaluate vehicles and provide Canadians with reliable and relevant insights for their next purchase.”
The winners in all four categories will be announced during the opening ceremony at CIAS on February 13, 2025. The 2025 Canadian International AutoShow, presented by Toronto Star, runs from February 14–23 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. This event will showcase the winners and celebrate the best in automotive innovation and excellence.
