Addverb, a global leader in industrial robotics and warehouse automation, has announced a strategic partnership with Infineon Technologies AG, a renowned pioneer in power systems and the Internet of Things (IoT). This collaboration is set to enhance the safety features of Addverb’s robotic fleet by integrating Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) communication systems, addressing critical safety requirements and optimizing operational efficiency in warehouse environments.
The integration of BLE technology into Addverb’s robotic solutions is designed to provide faster and more reliable communication, particularly in safety-critical situations. By leveraging BLE-powered emergency-stop functionality, robots within the fleet can be quickly deactivated within seconds in emergency situations, significantly improving response times and reducing the risk of accidents. This functionality supplements the existing Wi-Fi infrastructure, ensuring that safety protocols are reinforced without compromising system performance. Additionally, a remote power cut-off feature has been incorporated, allowing centralized management of large fleets of robots without requiring manual intervention at each unit. This feature is especially useful for managing large-scale operations, enhancing both safety and operational control across facilities.
The upgraded BLE-enabled solution has already been deployed in real-world environments across Zippy 10 robots in active warehouse settings. The integration of BLE into these robots highlights Addverb’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of robotics safety and automation. By addressing specific challenges related to Wi-Fi limitations in safety-critical scenarios, BLE technology offers an efficient and reliable solution, ensuring that safety protocols can be executed with minimal latency.
Sangeet Kumar, Co-founder and CEO of Addverb, expressed the importance of this partnership, stating, “Partnering with Infineon Technologies marks a pivotal step in Addverb’s mission to deliver intelligent, connected automation for the global supply chain. We have observed critical constraints with Wi-Fi in safety-critical scenarios, where every millisecond counts. BLE’s reliability overcomes these challenges and enables us to co-create innovations that set new safety and performance benchmarks in connected automation. We are confident these advances will underpin a robust, safe automation foundation for our partners.”
Shantanu Bhalerao, Vice-President of the Wireless Product Line at Infineon Technologies, also emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to collaborate with Addverb in advancing safety and connectivity within industrial robotics. This partnership not only embeds our advanced Bluetooth Low Energy technology into real-world automation but also reaffirms our commitment to delivering industrial-grade connectivity solutions. Working closely with Addverb’s engineering team enables us to align our product roadmap—such as the upcoming AIROC™ CYW20829 BLE MCU—with the evolving demands of large-scale robotic applications.”
This collaboration between Addverb and Infineon Technologies marks a significant milestone in the industrial robotics space, driving innovation in both safety and connectivity. The integration of BLE technology into Addverb’s solutions will play a crucial role in enhancing the operational efficiency, safety, and scalability of robotic systems, thus paving the way for more advanced, intelligent automation in warehouses and manufacturing facilities across the globe.
