ABB Robotics Software AppStudio Reduces Setup Times and Enhances Customization!

ABB introduces AppStudio, a no-code software tool designed to simplify the creation of customized robotic user interfaces, making it accessible to users of all experience levels. With its intuitive functionality and collaborative cloud-based library, AppStudio allows for easy sharing of templates and reduces setup times by up to 80%, enabling faster robot integration and enhanced productivity.

  • Flexibility and Ease of Use: Compatible with all ABB robots on the OmniCore controller platform, AppStudio offers users the flexibility to create tailored robotic interfaces that can be deployed on various devices, including the OmniCore FlexPendant, tablets, and mobile phones.
  • Cloud-Based Library: Users can repurpose previously used setups or select from a library of cloud-based templates, models, and modules in 20 languages, allowing for quick configuration and eliminating the need for starting from scratch.
  • Reduced Migration Time: AppStudio supports customers transitioning from the IRC5 controller to the OmniCore platform, significantly reducing the time required to rebuild interfaces—from days to mere minutes. This feature ensures a smooth migration to the latest technology, improving both efficiency and productivity.
  • Intuitive Drag-and-Drop Configuration: The software simplifies interface creation with a drag-and-drop feature that allows users to add icons, dropdown menus, buttons, and other functions. For advanced users, custom interface elements can be built using a JavaScript-based component kit, allowing for extensive customization.
  • Collaboration and Sharing: Once interfaces are developed, they can be shared with other users for seamless project collaboration, helping teams streamline workflows.
  • Robot Integration: Once an interface is complete, it can be deployed directly to the ABB robot or a digital twin in RobotStudio, ABB’s programming tool. The robot can then be programmed to execute specific actions, such as performing a task or opening a gripper.

By combining AppStudio with ABB’s Wizard Easy Programming tool and RobotStudio, ABB provides one of the easiest-to-program robotic platforms, opening the door to a wider audience of potential users.

Marc Segura, president of ABB’s robotics division, notes, “AppStudio is an exciting addition to ABB’s current software offering. By simplifying the creation of robot interfaces, it will save users significant time on setup and allow for fast and seamless robot integration across diverse applications.” This move underscores ABB’s commitment to making robotics accessible and efficient, helping users achieve faster setups and better performance in their automation processes.
