Tru Tech’s Assets Are Purchased by Star Cutter Company

Star Cutter Company has purchased Resonetics’ Tru Tech CNC grinding systems, taking over the design and manufacturing of the Tru Tech high precision CNC grinding equipment previously performed in the Michigan sites in Mt. Clemens and Lewiston. Star Cutter also secures service, training, and spare parts support for Tru Techs’ installation base in North America and Europe. “Tru Tech is a strategic purchase that perfectly complements our existing business,” says Brad Lawton, chairman and CEO of Star Cutter Company. “It broadens our technology portfolio to include earlier operations in the tool grinding process.” Star Cutter Company’s existing business units will benefit from the new capability in blank preparation and cylindrical grinding, as well as Tru Tech’s extensive install base. This is a truly win-win situation for our firm and, more importantly, for our customers.”

Tru Tech systems are stated to be simple to use and quick to set up while producing accurate, repeatable results. Tru Tech’s Perimetric grinding technology and CNC Pick-N-Place software allow these machines to produce high-precision micro-components in the medical, aerospace, electronics, and other industries. These systems can also handle a wide range of requirements, from one-piece, small-lot runs to lights-out production. According to Star Cutter, it will continue to invest in Tru Tech’s people, machine platforms, and service capabilities. All Tru Tech workers will continue to work in the Mt. Clemens and Lewiston locations for the foreseeable future, with the Tru Tech equipment and offerings eventually becoming part of Star Cutter’s Machine Tool business segment.
